As part of the enrollment process, each student must undergo a routine medical examination with their home doctor, and parents must complete an online form "UWCEA Health Form" in our student database describing their child’s medical information. The deadline for this section is July 1st. Providing accurate and complete information will help us ensure we can effectively support your child's medical needs during their time at the school.
Each Campus has a Health Centre with a nurse in residence available at all times during the school year. The nurse can manage minor medical issues, and the Health Centre has bedrooms for students who need to stay for closer observation and monitoring.
The school also has a doctor on call, consulted by the nurse when needed. All routine medical services provided by the school nurse or doctor are included in the fee; for more serious illnesses or injuries, students may be referred to the closest hospital. In the event of a serious medical emergency, we will do everything in our power to contact parents/guardians. If we are unable to contact them or a secondary contact, we will seek medical advice and accept treatment for your child as needed.
Malaria occurs in certain areas of Tanzania. However, the Kilimanjaro and Arusha regions, where our campuses are located, are at higher altitudes, and malaria transmission is rare, so malaria prophylaxis is not necessary here. In coastal and certain low-altitude regions, where malaria may occur, students will be tested for malaria if needed, and we can provide them with prophylactic medication.
